1.30.3
The version number that is in the app now. Nothing has changed in the app
itself since 1.29.0.
1.29.0
16 August 2026
- New About screen: the app's name and version, a QR code with the
app's logo in the middle that points to Barcodehammer in the Play Store,
and who made the app. Reachable via the version line at the bottom of
the home screen or at the bottom of Help.
1.28.3
16 August 2026
- On the Pro screen, the large button now always says "PRO", instead
of sometimes saying "FREE".
- Three texts on that screen were sharpened.
1.28.2
16 August 2026
- Shorter title while scanning: "Scan" instead of "Scan QR/Barcode",
so it fits on a narrow screen too.
- In Help, the title of each topic now sits above the text instead of
in the title bar, so more fits on your screen.
1.28.1
16 August 2026
- The buy card now sits at the top of the Pro screen, so you see it
right away. The heading above it is shorter: "Pay once."
1.27.0
16 August 2026
- The green bar at the top now looks the same on every screen.
- The Pro screen was rebuilt: you see at a glance what you get and
what it costs, one time.
1.26.3
The version number that is in the app now. Nothing has changed in the app
itself since 1.25.0.
1.25.0
14 August 2026
- A new app logo: the finder squares of a QR code, with the barcode and
the scan line running through them.
- With Pro, the logo in the middle of your QR code may now come from a
file as well, and so from an SVG or a PDF.
- Such a vector logo stays vector when you save the code as SVG or PDF. It
stays sharp, however large you print it.
- A PNG or JPG used as a logo is not drawn larger than it is, because that
only gives you a blotchy square.
1.24.0
14 August 2026
- Free and Pro have been given a screen of their own. At the top it says
what applies on this device, below that the difference and the buy button.
Every padlock in the app now points there.
- The ticket vault no longer shows a number while the lock is closed.
There was a "0" there, and it looked as though the vault was empty.
- The bar on the home screen now fits on every screen: the text shrinks
along instead of breaking or being cut off.
1.23.5
14 August 2026
- Help now sits on the home screen as a card among the other choices,
instead of as a separate button below them.
1.23.4
14 August 2026
- Group and Sort have moved to the menu in the history. Five buttons in
the bar was one too many; the choices themselves now come up from the
bottom.
- "Restore" is now called "Restore backup" and "Delete everything" is now
called "Delete history", so that there can be no misunderstanding about
it.
1.23.3
14 August 2026
- On a device that is too old for the ticket vault, that card is now
greyed out, with "Needs Android 10 or newer" underneath it and without the
Pro badge. Buying does not help there, and you should see that before you
tap.
1.23.2
14 August 2026
- The two versions are called Free and Pro everywhere. Before that it said
"basic" in one place and something else in another.
1.23.1
14 August 2026
- The help in the app and the texts on this website match what the app
does again.
1.23.0
13 August 2026
- A switch for full screen in the settings. Android's bars then disappear
and the app uses the whole screen; swipe from the edge and they come back
for a moment. It is off by default.
1.22.0
13 August 2026
- All twenty-four help topics are there now, in Dutch, English and
Spanish.
1.21.1
13 August 2026
- In the help a whole chapter opens and closes, and not just a single
topic.
1.21.0
13 August 2026
- The help has been rearranged: six chapters in the order in which you do
things, and at the top right of every screen a question mark that jumps to
the topic about that very screen.
- Every topic starts with the short answer; the rest only comes when you
ask for it.
- The help can be searched: type a word and you get the topics it appears
in, with the sentence beside it.
- On the make screen there is an "i" beside each type with the
requirements of that type, and a counter under the input field.
- Buttons say what they do instead of only a verb.
- The app stays within the edges of the screen, on a device with a notch
or rounded corners as well.
1.20.0
12 August 2026
- If "start scanning on opening" is on, the camera also opens when you come
back from the background. If another screen is on top of it, that one
stays.
1.19.0
12 August 2026
- The help sits in collapsible cards under group headings, so you do not
have to scroll past everything.
1.18.0
10 August 2026
- A new app icon: a QR code with a barcode inside it.
1.17.2
10 August 2026
- If the app starts with the scanner, one press of back now ends up at the
home screen. Before that, the press closed the app.
1.16.0
6 August 2026
- The Open button for a code you have read that holds
something your device can handle: a web address, a phone number, an email
address, a text message or a place on the map. If there is more than one
thing in it, you pick from a list that names the destination on every
line.
- Pro sits on a card of its own, with the one-time purchase and "Restore
purchases" underneath it.
- If a purchase is refunded, Pro goes off again. Only after several
answers from the store in a row, because one moment without a signal is no
proof.
- The app now says that it passes no judgement on what is in a code. A
code appearing neatly on the screen does not mean the content can be
trusted.
- The remarks button sits at the top right of every screen, with a note of
what is sent along with it.
1.15.0
31 July 2026
- If you share a PDF to Barcodehammer, the app goes through every page and
you get one list with all the codes that were in it, with the page number
beside each one. Keep it as a text file, share it, or put the whole group
into the ticket vault in one go.
- On the scan screen the viewfinder stays where it is, instead of jumping
about.
- On the home screen the Pro badge sits on what is Pro, instead of a
padlock that could not be seen on a thumbnail.
- The buttons for bulk scanning sit one below the other, so the text fits
on them whole.
1.14.0 and older
21 July to 30 July 2026
The month in which the app was built, from the first release to the version
that went to the Play Store. In order from new to old:
- 1.14.0: Pro is off until it has been paid for, in every
build.
- 1.13.0: Pro for sale through the Play Store, as a
one-time purchase.
- 1.12.0: bulk scanning with a count per code and a list
that goes out as an Excel file.
- 1.11.0: a text size of your own, apart from the setting
of the device.
- 1.10.0 and 1.10.1: a description and tags with every
code, and choosing yourself in which file type you save a kept code.
- 1.9.0 and 1.9.1: searching the history, and a
magnifying glass of its own in the ticket vault that only appears once you
have opened it.
- 1.8.0: grouping the history by origin, type or
date.
- 1.7.0 and 1.7.1: the split between the free version and
Pro, and a make screen that draws straight away while you type, with a
separate button to save it.
- 1.6.x: the ticket vault on a screen of its own, behind
a bolt that goes all the way to the key; the history in collapsible cards; a
shared text opens the make screen with that text already filled in.
- 1.5.0: sharing to other apps, and a detail screen in
the history.
- 1.4.0: exporting created codes to PNG, SVG and
PDF.
- 1.2.0 and 1.3.x: the home screen as you know it now,
with two settings for scanning.
- 1.0.2: a backup with a password of your own, and a logo
in the middle of your QR code.
- 1.0.0: the first version, with scanning, creating codes
and the encrypted history.
